Non-personally identifiable information

Our web server maintains log files of information useful for trouble-shooting and optimizing our online presence, and for aggregate statistical analysis of web site usage.

Web server logs: For each web page and image requested, our server records one line in a log file. For example, when you requested this page, the log entry probably looked like this:

237.106.34.2 -- [03/Jun/2004:13:54:09 -0800] "GET privacy.html HTTP/1.1" 200 11349

The first part of this is an IP address, which may be for your computer or it may be for some other Internet equipment between your computer and our server. The date and time of the web page request are next, followed by a status code (200 means a successful web page download) and finally the size of the page. This information is commonly collected by web servers, and is of very little use for anything other than web server diagnostics.

Brower/OS versions: Safety Girl also records the web browser version and operating system for each of our visitors. This information helps us ensure our web site is accessible to the widest possible range of people who may be interested in our services.

Cookies: SafetyGirl.com gives one cookie to each browser that visits our site. This allows us to temporarily remember users as they use our site. The cookies we use are called "session cookies", which means that your browser should delete its cookie when you close all your browser windows. Our web server will also forget anything about the cookie it gave you after a few hours with no more page requests from your browser.

Other technologies: Safety Girl does not use any third-party user tracking systems (e.g. banner ads, 'web bugs') on this site.

Links to other sites

There are some links on this web site that direct the user to other sites on the Internet. Safety Girl has no control over these other sites. If you have concerns about how they use information, you should examine their privacy policies.

Safety Girl's commitment to online security

Physical, electronic and managerial procedures have been employed to safeguard the security and integrity of your personal information entered through this website. Only our staff at Safety Girl are given access to your personal information for the sole purpose of filling orders.

Glossary of Internet terms

Cookies: Internet 'cookies' are small strings of text given to web browsers by web servers, and which are then sent back to the web server with every page or image request. These are typically used to allow the server to remember the browser from one request to the next. Cookies may be persistent, meaning they are saved by the browser for days, weeks, or even years. These are commonly used by personalized sites which offer to remember your login information, for example. Other cookies are session cookies, which are used only temporarily and are then forgotten by your browser when it closes.

IP Address: An Internet Protocol (IP) address is a semi-unique numeric designation used by every computer on the Internet. You may occasionally see them displayed in 'dotted quad' notation, like 102.290.61.01. Your computer's IP address allows other computers to send information to you, such as web pages that your web browser requests. Some computers, including most web servers, have permanent IP addresses, but most computers get different IP addresses each time they connect to the Internet.
