Pepper Spray, also know as Oleoresin Capsicum (OC) spray, is a lachrymatory agent which is a chemical compound that irritates the eyes to cause tears, pain and even temporary blindness. It can be used in many applications including personal self defense, riot control, and even defense against dogs and bears.
The active ingredient in pepper spray is capsaicin, which is a chemical that is derived from plants like chilis. The effects of pepper spray are severe, including temporary blindness, a burning sensation of the skin and upper body spasms which force a person to bend forward and cough uncontrollably, which makes it difficult to breathe or speak. The effects of a pepper spray attack average between 30-45 minutes, with diminished effects that can last for hours. Studies indicate that while a single exposure to OC is harmless, repeated exposure can result in long-lasting changes in corneal sensitivity.
Mace or Pepper Spray cannot be sold to these states: New York and Massachusetts. Special Formulas are in stock for Wisconsin and Michigan.
